Who is Negra Con Lápiz?

Dulce María Reyes Bonilla’s nonfiction has appeared in Colorlines, La Galería, Revista ABPN, Gotham Gazette,and the anthologies Daring to Write, 50 Ways to Support Lesbian and Gay Equality, Up from the Margins/Desde La Orilla, and Divagaciones Bajo la Luna/Musings Under the Moon. Born and raised on the eastern side of the Caribbean island once inhabited by the Tainos who called her Ayiti/Kiskeya and first encountered the Spanish colonizers who introduced the genocide and pillage of Natives and the trafficking/enslavement of Africans in this continent, Dulce’s two early loves were language arts (Spanish and English) and social studies. She learned and taught English as a teen, to adults and children, prior to US migration in 1989.
